Die Argolis, deren Gesamtfläche etwa 2.214
qkm umfasst, liegt mit ihrer Hauptstadt, dem
malerischen Nauplia, im südöstlichen Teil des
Peloponnes. Die Anziehungskraft dieser Präfek-
tur besteht nicht nur aus ihren archäologischen
Schätzen und dem international bekannten,
jährlich stattfindenden Theaterfestival von Epid-
auros, ihren Reiz machen auch die weltoffenen,
touristischen Orte aus, die sich insbesondere
während der Sommermonate besonderer Beli-
ebtheit erfreuen. Kein Wunder, denn hier findet
der anspruchsvolle Gast jede Art an Angeboten,
die dem zeitgenössischen Tourismus in allen nur
denkbaren Formen gerecht werden: die wunder-
bare Vielfalt der Gegend mit ihrer abwechslungs-
reichen Natur, zauberhafte Strände in Portocheli,
Epidauros, Tolo, Koilada, Ermioni und Kosta
(um nur einige wenige zu nennen), köstliche
Erzeugnisse der argolischen Erde und, last but
not least, die typisch griechische Gastfreundschaft
auf einem wunderbaren, traditionsreichen Stück-
chen Erde.

The Argolida Prefecture,
with the picturesque city of
Nafplio being its capital, extends
over an area of 2.214 sq. km
at the southeastern end of the
Peloponnese. The prefecture at-
tracts many visitors, who come to
see its archaeological treasures, the
renowned annual festival of Epid-
aurus and the cosmopolitan sum-
mer resorts. The visitor will have
the chance to admire the Argolic
landscape, with its natural beauty
and variety, as well as luxuriate in
the majestic beaches at Porto Heli,
Epidaurus, Tolo, Koilada, Ermioni,
Kosta etc. Here, at this land of
tradition, the visitor will also have
the opportunity to taste products
of the Argolic land and enjoy
Greek hospitality. Argolida, with
its numerous archaeological find-
ings, some dating from prehistoric
times, has been one of the cradles
of Greek civilization. The ancient
Theatre of Asclepieion, the little
Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus, Mu-
cenae, the medieval monuments
(such as the castles of Nafplio, N.
Epidaurus and Ermioni), the historic
churches and monasteries, and the
magnificent museums with exhibits
depicting Greek history, as well as
the numerous cultural events or-
ganized at the prefecture, are an
attraction for many Greek and for-
eign tourists. The region, however,
is not only rich in history and tradi-
tion; it also attracts lovers of all
forms of alternative tourism, and
it is an ideal destination for those
who seek moments of relaxation
and recreation.
